New Global Missions Research Intern: Jordan Ryan

The Global Mission Roundtable welcomes Jordan Ryan, who will be assisting Executive Director Matthew Gibbins as Research Intern this June through September.  Ryan will be working on two of the GMR’s studies of Canadian churches’ involvement in global mission, as well as the development of a long-term database for future research and missions partnership.  He is excited about “getting to interact with missions leaders, and helping develop research and resources for them and the wider Canadian global missions community.” 

As a graduate student Ryan brings analytical skills and a passion for missions honed while working on his Master of Arts in New Testament at the University of Toronto.  “I’ve found you can’t academically study the New Testament without wanting to be directly involved in living it out”, which, when he is not studying includes ministering through music with his Christian rock band A World Away.

New Executive Director for Global Missions Partnership

Matthew Gibbins has been appointed executive director of the Global Mission Roundtable, a partnership operating on the communications and administrative platform of the EFC. Gibbins will focus on emerging missions leadership, strategic mission partnerships, and the development of missions resources and research. He previously served with Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship, working with their Urbana Student Missions Conference for almost 12 years. He has been a co-chair of the Roundtable since 2008.

Improving Short-Term Mission Trips
The EFC Global Mission Roundtable has updated its Code of Best Practice in Short-Term Mission. The Code seeks to provide a standard or benchmark for short-term mission practice and suggests elements that should be incorporated as a basic minimum. Global Mission Survey 2008
The Evangelical Fellowship of Canada says "thank you" to the 395 congregations who participated in the Global Missions Survey. Responses came from over 36 denominations, with significant response from The Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada, The Christian and Missionary Alliance, Canadian Baptist Ministries and The Christian Reformed Church in North America.
