The Charge as EFC President

It is my privilege on behalf of the Board of The Evangelical Fellowship of Canada and its affiliates to issue a charge to Bruce as he is commissioned as President of The Evangelical Fellowship of Canada.

Bruce, it is a God-given honour and a sober responsibility to be entrusted with this office and calling. In the light of that,

We charge you:

• To live a life of integrity: As Paul wrote to Titus – “may you be hospitable, one who loves what is good, who is self-controlled, upright, holy and disciplined.”

We charge you:

• To passionately love God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength: May you be continually replenished by keeping in step with the Spirit and being a person of God’s Word.

We charge you:

• To love and sacrificially care for your wife Tracy and your daughter Brandy: We pray your family relationship illustrates the great love Christ has for His church and the tender mercy God has for this world of humanity.

We charge you:

• To be like the men of Issachar who understood the times and knew what their people should do: May God grant you His wisdom and understanding so that you will have favour with both the leaders of His church in Canada and also those who are the decision makers within our society.

We charge you:

• To love, pray and be broken for this great country of Canada: May you always be conscious that God is at work among us – from the hardy persons who fish off of the shores of Newfoundland, work in the forests of B.C. and live in the northern reaches of the Territories, to the young urbanite in the city, the impoverished in our streets and the newcomer who has just stepped off an airplane – God is at work in this land. May you see righteousness and justice erupt in this land!

Finally, We charge you:

• To ensure that The Evangelical Fellowship of Canada fulfills its mission and mandate: As a national movement may we engage an increasingly inclusive participation of evangelicals to accomplish together mission, ministry and witness. Under your leadership may the EFC be an alliance of Canadian Christians vitally linked for Kingdom purposes.
