Good News for the Poor workshop a huge success!
Micah Challenge Canada had the privilege of hosting a workshop these past two nights in Markham, Ontario. Twenty-five people gathered together to learn more about Micah Challenge Canada and of our efforts to encourage and hold our government leaders accountable to their pledge to halve global poverty by 2015. As people of faith, we truly believe that the UN Millennium Development Goals are an initiative that all Christians need to support and get excited about. It presents us with an opportunity to rise up and “bring good news to the poor, to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound.” This is our chance to proclaim 2015 as the year of the Lord’s favour! We also had the opportunity to brainstorm and hear about the various ways that we can be advocates of social justice on an individual, community and government level. A big thanks to Jonathan Chan, Liz John-West and Sid Sudiacal for all of their leadership! God is doing great things in Toronto!
