Micah Challenge National Coordinator Meets with MPs to encourage public consultation on G8/G20 meetings

Micah Challenge National Coordinator Robyn Bright met this week with Foreign Affairs committee member MP Glen Pearson, to encourage him and other members of the committee to participate in cross-country consultations on the G8 and G20 meetings. Micah Challenge Canada is a partner campaign in a growing coalition of Canadian civil society groups working to ensure that the 2010 G8 meeting in Huntsville, Ontario addresses the Millennium Development Goals, particularly poverty, environmental sustainability and reform of the global economy. The EFC is a key partner and supporter of the Micah Challenge, and hosts the Micah Challenge National Office in its Ottawa Headquarters.

Public consultations on the G8 and G20 are part of Micah Challenge’s broader mission to hold the Canadian government accountable to its commitment to fulfill the Millennium Development Goals, and halve global poverty by 2015.

Want to help Micah Challenge, and join the hundreds of thousands of citizens from across the country who are calling for ambitious leadership on development from Canada in 2010? Contact your local MP, and tell them that you think it is important that the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs hold public consultations in advance of the G8/G20 meetings.
