  • On the 2001 census 72% of Canadians self-identified as Christian;
  • About 12% of Canadians or approximately 4 million people are evangelical;
  • There are approximately 24,000 churches, or congregations, in Canada, about 11,000 of which are evangelical.

Unlike in the United States, there is very little Canadian private foundation funding for research on religion. One notable exception being the generous 2007 Bridgeway Foundation grant that launched the EFC Centre for Research on Canadian Evangelicalism.
