Former president of Evangelical Missionary Church of Canada
Phil came into EMCC ministry in 1982 and retired as the denomination's president on July 1, 2017. His singular passion is to see EMCC fulfil its calling and do its part in advancing the Kingdom of God. Phil began following Jesus in 1964 in Sudbury, ON. He pastored in Toronto, studied at Wheaton Graduate School and did doctoral studies at McMaster University. He has taught at Milliken College, Ontario Bible College (Tyndale), McMaster University and Emmanuel Bible College in biblical studies. He pastored EMCC churches on Manitoulin Island, in Hamilton and Elmira before becoming the Canada East District Superintendent in 1998. He began to serve EMCC as President in 2004. Phil believes that God has called EMCC to see "A Cell in Every Village, A Congregation in Every Town, A Celebration in Every City." He loves to read widely and eclectically. He enjoys hiking and training the family dog. Phil and Michelle are thankful for the blessing of their five children and six grandchildren and continue to make their home in Elmira.
