What Are Churches Allowed to Do During an Election? Three Questions from Our Webinar

During the EFC’s recent webinar on what churches can and can’t do during an election, we noted that many of the participants had the same kinds of questions—like what kinds of involvement church members or pastors could have during a campaign in their personal time; whether churches can get involved on policy issues or legislation, and more. Read a few of these questions and answers in a new post on our website.

Senate Submission on the Charitable Sector

The importance of Canadian charities was affirmed by the Special Senate Committee on the Charitable Sector in its report last week. The EFC's submission to the committee in April cited a major study by the Canadian Council of Christian Charities on the benefits of religion. Learn more at TheEFC.ca/charitable sector.

The PAOC Turns 100 This Year. An Interview with David Wells

David Wells is the general superintendent of The Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada. Turning 100 is a chance for a denomination to look back and to look forward. David Wells does both in this audio interview, and he offers encouragement for any churches feeling beleaguered these days.

How Much Do You Know About Sikhism?

This religion from South Asia is increasingly common in Canada. Faith Today columnist James Beverley gives a quick overview of Sikhism. He writes, “Some of the sayings of the gurus are profound, particularly on the majesty of God…. However, when I did a word search for the name Jesus, the result was jarring and sad. He is missing on every page of Sikh scripture, and also absent in Sikh liturgy and theology. Therefore, this means the Christian response to Sikhism must centre not on what is missing, but who.”
