Pray for Canada’s Leaders This Sunday, Oct. 6

Your prayers matter. Before the federal election on Oct. 21, will you pray for our leaders in all levels of government? This coming Sunday, Oct. 6, the EFC is joining in prayer along with other organizations to lift up our government in prayer. We welcome you to join us on this day or any other day this month. A downloadable slide that you could use for this event has been added to the EFC election resources at www.TheEFC.ca/Election2019.

Euthanasia and Assisted Suicide Update: Quebec Challenge

The requirement in federal law that a person’s death be “reasonably foreseeable” to qualify for euthanasia was struck down on Sept. 11, 2019, by Quebec Superior Court Judge Christine Baudouin. She also struck down a similar clause in Quebec’s euthanasia law that requires an illness be terminal. The EFC is closely following these disturbing developments. See today's EFC blog post on the issue which includes links to an EFC letter to the Minister of Justice asking that this decision be appealed and a sample letter you can also send before the appeal deadline of Oct. 11.

Faith Today on Famous Christians Who Quit the Faith

"On July 18 Joshua Harris, famous for his promotion of a puritanical approach to Christian relationships, and his wife Shannon announced they were separating after 20 years of marriage. Nine days later, he wrote he was also abandoning his Christian faith.” Our Religion Watch columnist James Beverley reflects on the news that the pastor who authored the influential book I Kissed Dating Goodbye has left the Christian faith.
