New 2021 Federal Election Resources

As the 2021 federal election campaign begins, we’ve provided some election resources for Christians to freely reproduce and distribute for your church or other gatherings.

First, there’s our 13-page election kit, which includes sample questions you can ask candidates about 15 key issues facing our country, important information about what churches can and cannot do during an election, a call to prayer, a guide to holding an all-candidates meeting, and more.

Second, we’ve prepared a series of 17 image slides on the election in PNG format that can be used on social media or presentations. You can choose to download the full package of 17 slides or just a slide on a single issue, for example elder care or refugees.

Third, we’ve updated a one-page brochure that you can print off to encourage others to start thinking about how faith relates to elections more generally. It’s called Federal Elections: Faith, Voting and Political Engagement.

The shortcut to all these election resources (and any future ones that we develop) is www.TheEFC.ca/Election.

New EFC Weekly Prayer Prompts

This week’s prayer request is about ministry during the pandemic. Pray for those in pastoral ministry, who may feel burned out after months of preaching remotely and trying to respond to the needs of their congregation from a distance. Pray for those involved in other forms of ministry who respond to both local and global needs, as they begin to plan what ministry will look during the fall, when Covid restrictions may vary within the country and around the world.

You can learn more on these issues at TheEFC.ca/Church-Mission.

Each week at TheEFC.ca/TakeAction we rotate through a prayer request from each of these five areas: Sanctity of Life, Care for the Vulnerable, Church and Mission, Family and Community, Religious Freedom. We also list an EFC affiliate group to pray for.

This week, we highlight One Way Ministries, an organization that walks alongside Ottawa’s pastors and marketplace leaders with a desire to unify the Body of Christ, invest in the lives of Kingdom leaders, and advance the gospel.

Covid 19 and the restrictions have a significant impact on our lives. The EFC continues to offer new Friday@4 pandemic-focused prayer suggestions each week at TheEFC.ca/Covid-19.

Being Christian in a Secular Society (Faith Today article)

Gordon Smith, president of Ambrose University, writes of the growth of secularism in Canada and what this means for the Church. “Being a minority presence most assuredly is not an inherent threat to the Church.” Read more in the Jul/Aug Faith Today.
