Letter of Congratulations to Her Excellency the Right Honourable Mary Simon

The Evangelical Fellowship of Canada has sent a letter of congratulations to Her Excellency the Right Honourable Mary Simon, the newly appointed Governor General of Canada.

New Canada Watch: Conscience Work, Indigenous Relations and More

Because of your partnership, the EFC was able to spend the last parliamentary session engaging every step of the way with important issues such as conscience protection for medical professionals and major government bills on euthanasia and conversion therapy.

Some unresolved issues require our continued attention: conscience protection, for example, will be needed by more and more Canadians as Medical Assistance in Dying (MAID) expands. Learn more in our new Canada Watch about how you can help and how you can pray, as well as more news about the work of the EFC.

New EFC Weekly Prayer Prompts

Prayer is essential to any effective action. Each week at TheEFC.ca/TakeAction we rotate through a prayer request from each of these five areas: Sanctity of Life, Care for the Vulnerable, Church and Mission, Family and Community, Religious Freedom. We also list an EFC affiliate group to for.

This week’s prayer request is about disabilties. Pray that churches in Canada will increasingly be inviting and caring to people with disabilities.

You can learn more on these issues at TheEFC.ca/Themes/Sanctity-of-Life.

This week's EFC affiliate highlight is Christian Horizons, a non-profit, developmental services organization that helps people experiencing disabilities accomplish their goals and thrive in communities where their God-given gifts are valued and respected.

Covid 19 and the restrictions have a significant impact on our lives. The EFC continues to offer new Friday@4 pandemic-focused prayer suggestions each week at TheEFC.ca/Covid-19.

Joan and the Rotting Deck (Faith Today Guest Column)

Read this witty, moving piece in the latest Faith Today. We asked our regular columnists to share their space with younger, emerging writers. Guest writer Maria Hovey writes about finding God in unexpected places and among surprising people.

A Life of Pain Renewed by the Creator (Faith Today Website Post)

The journey of James Peters at first sounds sadly familiar – Indigenous child taken from his family and abused in foster care only to end up on the streets of Toronto – but then God intervened.
