EFC to Intervene in Case on Church Freedom

The Supreme Court of Canada has granted intervener status to the EFC and co-intervener the Catholic Civil Rights League in a case that concerns whether Canadian courts should intervene in the internal decisions of churches regarding membership and discipline. Historically, Canadian courts have considered these matters beyond their expertise and jurisdiction. The Wall case will be heard in early November.

Completing Canadian Sentences, Subject and – How Do Our Lives Preach About God to Our Neighbours?

Our columnist John Stackhouse notes that the French word for ‘preacher’ is le prédicateur. “Literally le prédicateur becomes ‘the predicator’…someone who ‘asserts something about another thing.’” In an increasingly secular society, the lives of Christians make a statement to the watching world about what it means to follow Christ. Stackhouse asks, “How will we prompt better predicates about our kind of Christianity?”
