Young Adults Helped Most When Ministries Partner

“Churches or campus ministries that connect with young adults after they move out or start postsecondary education are most effective when they do so in partnership with the home churches these young adults come from.” Read this and many more findings in Renegotiating Faith, a new research report by the EFC and its partners, now available as a free download!

The EFC, Power to Change–Students, InterVarsity Canada, Youth for Christ and Truth Matters Ministries partnered on this research to discover how we can help our teens stay connected to church and faith as they move on from high school.

Your Stories of Palliative Care—Bev Foster

The EFC is publishing a series of personal experience stories in support of our free new Palliative Care Toolkit. This week you can read the story of Bev Foster of Port Perry, who writes: “Music had been my way of connecting with Dad in life, and it became my way of supporting him at poignant moments during his illness and final hours. Today, when I hear the hymns that were like cherished friends to Dad, I am connected to his memory, those final moments and the anticipation of things to come.” Have you witnessed the difference palliative care made for a loved one? If you have an experience that you’d be willing to share with other readers on our websites, please email us to tell us about it. To say thank you, we’ll give you a free one-year subscription to Faith Today, Canada’s Christian magazine. We’re also publishing these Stories of Palliative Care on the Faith Today blog.

Good Stewards of Religious Freedom: New Canada Watch

At the Supreme Court, says EFC President Bruce Clemenger, “we had a unanimous victory with the Wall case, now with TWU a loss in a split decision. We need to be good stewards of the religious freedom we enjoy, and be persistent in its defense.” Read more of his interview in the August issue of the EFC newsletter, now online. You can also read about Our Common Calling and the Language of Mission, the Canada Summer Jobs attestation and more.

Awana Partners with Love Is Moving

Awana International Canada, one of the EFC's newest affiliates, has developed a new partnership with Love Is Moving, the EFC’s youth and young adult initiative. Awana exists to empower the local church with biblical, relevant and easy-to-use discipleship programs. They come alongside congregations to train and support the vision of a church's children's, youth and parent ministries. Love Is Moving is engaged in a variety of activities including publishing Canada’s Christian youth magazine.

Coming Up in Next Faith Today

Applying Servant Leadership

There are two important principles we can learn about leadership from Jesus’ life, writes Craig Smith in a recent Faith Today article. Firstly, “before Jesus showed leadership, He made Himself a servant.” Secondly, “Because Jesus was in the form of God, He did not consider being equal with God something to grasp." Are you a Christian leader or aspiring leader? To read more how Jesus’ life of leadership can demonstrate what Christian leadership should look like today, read the full article. This article is free online, but you can also support us and receive our print magazine by subscribing at FaithToday.ca/subscriptions.
