Call for Release of Pastor Hyeon Soo Lim

The EFC is again calling on the Government of Canada to hold the case of imprisoned Mississauga, Ont., pastor Rev. Hyeon Soo Lim in the highest priority, and to do all it can to secure the release and return of Rev. Lim from North Korea to his home in Canada.

Bill C-51 and Freedom of Worship

Bill C-51 removes a Criminal Code provision protecting the ability of clergy and individuals to participate in religious services without interference or disruption. The EFC notes this change will reduce specific protection for worshippers and places of worship at a time when hate crimes against religious communities in Canada are on the rise. What Happens to Refugees After Month 13?

Evangelical churches sponsored more than 3,500 refugees from Syria and the Middle East in Canada over a year ago. What happens at “month 13” when the yearlong commitment to financial support by the government or private sponsors ends? In the latest Faith Today, here’s a summary of the concerns – and hopes – of students at Steinbach Bible College in Manitoba. While students voice concern about lack of trust in biblical authority, too great a focus on tolerance, and dividedness in churches, they also believe God’s promise that his Church will not fail.
