B.C. COURT CASE COMING UP
Yesterday the EFC filed its legal arguments for the next case about a proposed law school at Trinity Western University, to be heard August 24 in the Supreme Court of British Columbia. This is the third province where TWU has launched legal challenges against provincial law societies which are objecting to TWU’s Community Covenant and refusing to accredit the law school. (Rulings in Nova Scotia and Ontario have already come down and are being appealed.)

INTERFAITH WORK AND EVANGELISM ON A COLLISION COURSE?
EFC Vice-President Aileen Van Ginkel reflects on how two recent initiatives, seemingly headed in different directions, are actually compatible. A conference on secularism “helped refute the idea that we need to park our beliefs at the door” when we talk with people of other faiths or no faith. And a meeting with the Canadian Network of Ministries to Muslims helped remind her “we can work together with people of other faiths” to build a just and peaceable society. LAST CHANCE! IMPROVING PASTORAL PERFORMANCE
Pastors and church board members are invited to participate in a survey by Heather Card, a seminary student studying how evangelical denominations approach pastoral performance evaluation. Survey results will be written up as a thesis and potentially as articles and seminars to assist the Canadian Christian community. The survey is open to pastors and those who evaluate them (elders, deacons, overseers, etc.). Find out more or take the survey (before the end of July).

THE UN-GUIDE TO DATING

Ontario journalist Joe Montague reviews and recommends the “humorous and insightful” book The Unguide to Dating by Camerin Courtney and Todd Hertz at the EFC website Christianity.ca, Canada’s Christian library online.
