Welcome to Canadian Assemblies of God

The EFC is happy to welcome Canadian Assemblies of God as a new affiliate. This denomination originated a century ago with Italian-Canadian Pentecostal churches, but today includes about thirty congregations with members from a variety of ethnic backgrounds, including French, Haitian, Spanish, Portuguese, and many more. Their headquarters is in St-Leonard, Québec.

New Dispatch from Brian Stiller: Surprising Places of Witness

"The U.N. Secretary General told us of...his appreciation for the WEA staff in assisting worldwide revelations of the human rights abuses. He ended with a plea for us to ramp up our work in pressing for the rights of people, Christians as well as others. He said our credibility given our world population, puts us in an important place of public advocacy.” World Evangelical Alliance ambassador Brian Stiller shares how the WEA’s special consultative status at the United Nations allows it to advocate for religious freedom and the rights of the persecuted church.

Support Freedom of Conscience Bill

Private member’s Bill C-418 will be up for debate in the House of Commons soon. This bill would protect health care workers from being compelled to participate in Medical Assistance in Dying. Let your MP know that freedom of conscience is important to you and ask your MP to support Bill C-418. See a sample letter and the EFC’s letter of support at TheEFC.ca/c418.

New Podcast: Who are the Keystone People in Your Neighbourhood?

Alberta writer and pastor Preston Pouteaux walks us through our neighbourhoods and helps us to see the potential for community and impact everywhere in this audio version of his recent Faith Today article.

Serving or saving?

Are you feeling overwhelmed by the world’s problems and the difficulty of responding to them? “Compassion fatigue is more likely to occur when we begin to think we are little Messiahs called to save the world rather than one of a multitude of servants of the Messiah,” explains EFC Vice-President and resident theologian David Guretzki. Read his full article on our new website.

New, Faster Faith Today Website

Faith Today, Canada’s Christian magazine, has been published by the EFC since 1983 -- and now it has an entirely new website. “We care about our readers and want them to have the best reading experience possible, while they hold Faith Today in their hands or online,” according to senior editor Karen Stiller. "We welcome everyone to visit www.faithtoday.ca to check it out.” The new site operates on a platform that is faster and more mobile-friendly — making it easier than ever to access and read some of the best Christian journalism in Canada. You can use the Contact Us page there to send us your comments!
