INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER FOR THE PERSECUTED CHURCH
Get free resources to observe this annual event, coming this Sunday, Nov. 13, at www.idop.ca. The event is co-ordinated by IDOP Canada, a partnership of ministries which raises awareness and encourages prayer for those who are suffering for their faith in Jesus Christ. Spread the news about this event using recent posts on the EFC blog (Who will you be praying for on November 13?) and on the Faith Today blog (Why it’s so important to pray for the persecuted church).
MONCTON EVENING ON SEXUAL EXPLOITATION
The EFC’s Julia Beazley will make a public presentation tomorrow evening (Nov. 9) in Moncton, N.B., at an event examining human trafficking, prostitution and pornography. “Think You Know Moncton? Guess Again” will be held at Crandall University. Other speakers include Cal Maskery of Harvest House Ministries and Pamela MacLeod of TREY (Trauma Relief for Exploited Youth). VISITING IN NEW BRUNSWICK

IN REMEMBRANCE
EFC President Bruce Clemenger is laying a wreath at the National War Memorial in Ottawa during the Remembrance Day Ceremony this Friday (Nov. 11) on behalf of the Interfaith Committee for Canadian Military Chaplaincy. Clemenger is a member of the committee, representing the many EFC-affiliated denominations who have chaplains serving in the Royal Canadian Chaplain service.

EFC PRESIDENTS DAY 2016
Leaders of the EFC’s affiliated denominations, ministry organizations and higher education institutions gathered in Mississauga last Thursday. Participants discussed topics such as the mission of the church and how the biblical idea of exile might be relevant to the societal position of Canadian churches today. HOW ROMAN CATHOLICS SEE EVANGELICALS
It can be useful to learn about ourselves from a trusted but alternative perspective, according to EFC Vice-President Aileen Van Ginkel. She reflects on these ideas in a blog post about Our Evangelical Neighbours, a resource for Roman Catholics produced by the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops. The post also links to a TV interview she participated in about the resource.
EMPOWERING YOUTH MINISTRY
Love Is Moving, the EFC’s youth and young adult initiative, is excited about partnering with the Canadian Youth Workers Conference as a national sponsor. CYWC holds regional training events to empower anyone involved with youth ministry. Upcoming locations include Kelowna, Moncton, Vancouver, Saskatoon and Calgary. Get details at www.cywc.ca.
AWARENESS OF PORNOGRAPHY’S IMPACT
The EFC is raising awareness of the public health impacts of pornography, bringing in an academic expert for events and meetings on Parliament Hill in November. These events, co-hosted with Defend Dignity, will educate about pornography’s impact on sexual, emotional, psychological and relational health. The first event, Nov. 28, features Cordelia Anderson, founder of the US National Coalition to Prevent Child Sexual Abuse & Exploitation. Details at TheEFC.ca/Calendar and DefendDignity.ca.
