The EFC Condemns Anti-Semitic Attack at Pittsburgh Synagogue

The EFC strongly condemns the horrific anti-Semitic attack at the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh on October 27.

We offer deepest condolences and prayer for the family and friends of those killed and injured, including the first responders, and for the broader Jewish community.

It is a heinous act to target people in a place of worship. Read our full statement.

Webinar: Youth Renegotiating Faith in Christian Postsecondary Schools

The just released Renegotiating Faith research offers insights into how Canadian young adults reach maturity in life and faith, and the role that churches, mentors and pastors play. There is more though. How are faith and maturity different for youth who attend Christian post-secondary schools? How is Christian identity formed in the midst of Bible college and graduate theological school? What do parents and pastors need to know about the opportunities and challenges for youth who attend those institutions?

Sign up now to join us Wed. Nov. 28 at noon EST with our expert guests Rick Hiemstra, director of research for the EFC and lead researcher for Renegotiating Faith; Bruce Guenther, associate professor of church history and Mennonite studies at Trinity Western University; and Justin Cooper, executive director of Christian Higher Education Canada. With host Karen Stiller.

EFC Speakers at World Religions Conference Tackle Dignity of Women, Ending Sexual Exploitation

Several EFC speakers are presenting at the Parliament of the World's Religions, a conference in Toronto this week. The EFC’s Julia Beazley will be joined by Glendyne Gerrard of Defend Dignity on Nov. 2 for the panel Taking Down the House: The Fight to End Sexual Exploitation. And the EFC’s Karen Stiller will be part of a panel on Nov. 5 called Discerning 'Dignity of Women' in a World Marred by Violence, Patriarchy, and Injustice. She’ll address how we tell the stories of vulnerable women well, in a way that doesn't detract from their dignity. Her fellow panellists are Rev. Dr. Karen Hamilton and Leah Perrault.

Improving the EFC Update: Survey closes tomorrow

How successful is this email newsletter at meeting your needs? We need to hear from you to know that, so we've created a short 9-question survey (under 4 minutes) to hear your opinions. Get the next print issues of Canada’s Christian magazine and Canada’s Christian youth magazine for yourself or someone you love! Thank you for filling out the survey before it closes tomorrow.

Christian Dissenters in Canadian society

In the Sep/Oct Faith Today, EFC President Bruce Clemenger discusses recent Supreme Court decisions and being Christian dissenters in Canadian society: “Our witness in various spheres of life, animated by love for God expressed by love for neighbour, remains our faithful response while we navigate these unchartered waters.”
