The EFC Participates in Discussions on Ending Human Trafficking

EFC Director of Public Policy Julia Beazley participated in a roundtable in Winnipeg yesterday on the way forward to end human trafficking. The federal government is developing a new strategy to end human trafficking to be released in winter 2019. Find more information on Public Safety Canada's consultations.

The EFC Asks Justice Committee to Reconsider Criminal Justice Changes

The EFC is asking the Justice Committee to reconsider some of the changes to the criminal justice system proposed in Bill C-75. Among other things, this bill would allow some serious offences related to human trafficking, assaulting clergy and infanticide to be considered as relatively minor summary conviction offences. The EFC’s brief says these changes send the wrong message about these serious offences.

EFC Lawyer Discusses Implications of TWU Decision

Implications for the evangelical community of the Supreme Court decision in the Trinity Western University law school case is the subject of a new discussion paper by Geoffrey Trotter, co-counsel for the EFC in its interventions in the TWU law school litigation at all levels of court in British Columbia and at the Supreme Court of Canada. EFC Vice-President to Visit B.C., Speak at Parliamentary Forum 

On September 17, EFC Executive Vice-President and Resident Theologian David Guretzki will speak on “Evangelical Witness and the Wrong Side of History” at Prince George Evangelical Free Church, B.C. 

On October 1 in Ottawa, Guretzki will speak at the 7th Annual Parliamentary Forum on Religious Freedom. The topic of the forum is Faith in a Time of Diversity and Division: Where Is Canada Headed?
