New Audio Podcast: Renegotiating Faith: An Interview with Rick Hiemstra About the Youth and Faith Research

Renegotiating Faith: The Delay in Young Adult Identity Formation and What It Means for the Church in Canada is a new body of research investigating the transition time when many Canadian youth leave the church. The research also provides simple strategies for how faith communities can help youth maintain a vital faith identity. In this podcast, Karen Stiller interviews head researcher Rick Hiemstra about what the research revealed, and what parents and churches can learn.

He will be speaking about this research at various places across Canada over the coming year.  In the next few weeks, his speaking engagements include Sunnyside Wesleyan Church, Ottawa, Sept. 25; Atlantic District Pastors, Wesleyan Church, Sept. 26; and Fellowship Christian Reformed Church in Brighton, Ont., Sept. 30.

Guests: Rauni Salminen, executive director, Philip Aziz Centre, and Julia Lee, a family physician who teaches at the University of Toronto and McMaster University.

Sexual Misconduct in the Church: The FT Interview with David Martin

We interviewed David Martin, executive minister for the Mennonite Church Eastern Canada, for the Sept/Oct Faith Today. Martin’s work takes him deeply into the topic of sexual misconduct within the Church, and he teaches and writes about it. This difficult work has resulted in the educational series Sacred Trust: Fostering Safe Space in Congregations. Martin served more than 25 years as a pastor in Ontario.
