Dr. David Guretzki is our new Executive Vice-President and Resident Theologian. He previously served on the EFC board for nine years and worked since the 1990s as Dean of Briercrest Seminary and Professor of Theology and Public Life.
David grew up and came to know the Lord at Onoway Evangelical Free Church in Alberta. He served as assistant pastor at Lacombe Evangelical Free Church from 1989-1992, after which he pursued further education and joined the faculty at Briercrest, where he helped equip people for ministry until moving to The Evangelical Fellowship of Canada in June 2017. He has taught and researched on a broad number of topics, especially the theology of forgiveness and reconciliation, the nature of the Church and Kingdom of God, the theology of marriage and illness, and the Christian’s place in public life.
Before his move to Ottawa to join The Evangelical Fellowship of Canada, David served as an elder at Caronport Community Church, a board member for The Evangelical Fellowship of Canada and past president of the Canadian Evangelical Theological Association. He has regularly preached and taught in various church contexts in Western Canada. David has been married to Maureen since 1989. They have three children, two adults and one teenager. When David manages to find a few spare moments, he is involved in astrophotography, amateur radio, reading novels and woodworking.
