EFC Update Newsletter July 1

30 June 2025

Canada Day greetings from EFC president

In recent months, we’ve experienced a renewed sense of pride in our beautiful country, Canada. Indeed, it’s important to be grateful for the many blessings God has poured out on this land—a collective home both to Indigenous peoples and people from every corner of the globe. At the same time, we acknowledge our ongoing need for repentance, renewal, and reconciliation within the Church and with all our neighbours, whom God loves and for whom Christ died.

As we celebrate Canada Day, my prayer is that we would give thanks to God for the good Canada represents and be stirred by the Holy Spirit to grow in Christ’s love and grace in a world marked by violence, division, and pain.

May you have a blessed Canada Day

What are your hopes for Canada?

What are your hopes for Canada? Earlier this year, in an interview with 100 Huntley Street, the EFC's David Guretzki and Julia Beazley were asked what they hoped for Canada. As we celebrate Canada today and thank God for his faithfulness, we encourage you to reflect prayerfully on this topic. Let us know your hopes for Canada at newsletters@theefc.ca. We'll publish some of your reflections (with your consent) in an upcoming blog.

Encourage your MP this summer

The House of Commons is on summer break, and MPs are back in their home ridings. Now is a great time to send your MP an email offering congratulations after the recent election and assuring him or her of your prayers. You can use the EFC’s email template, which includes a virtual postcard.

A one-week commitment to renew our fellowship

What would happen if we all put others’ needs ahead of our own — not to impress, but to reflect Christ’s love? Counsellor Chris Ellison invites us into a one-week challenge to practise humble, Christ-like care as a spiritual reset. Read his latest blog post at FaithToday.ca.
