Karen Monie is an Ottawa-based, CBC award-winning writer, actor and director. She joined the EFC in 2025 as Office Manager and HR Assistant. She holds a B.A. in Economics (Carleton University) and a Diploma in Performance and Communications Media (Memorial University of Newfoundland),
Karen is passionate about bridging the divide between the arts and finance. A mother of three, she is dedicated to helping women build financial literacy and security, ensuring they have the stable foundation needed to excel in their careers while staying deeply connected to their creative work. Her children’s play Aya & the Masquerades completed two successful tours in Newfoundland, and she maintains a long-standing commitment to organizations like the Women’s Work Festival and the St. John’s International Women’s Film Festival.
