Trinity Western University Law School Decision to Be Released This Friday

The Supreme Court of Canada has announced that it will release its decision in the Trinity Western University Law School case this Friday, June 15, at 9:45 a.m. This is also the last day on which Chief Justice McLachlan may participate post-retirement. The EFC was one of the interveners permitted to appear in this case to support TWU’s right to hold to a community covenant.

As we await the decision, we’re posting a ‘Countdown to the TWU Decision’ on our social media. Here are some of the articles to look out for:

EFC Webinar on the TWU Decision

What is the significance of the Supreme Court of Canada's Trinity Western University Law School decision? How does it impact religious freedom and the future of education in Christian schools in Canada? Join us for our webinar on Wednesday, June 27 at noon EDT. Registration is free online. Our expert guests will open by sharing their thoughts, and then we will field your questions live.

Guests: Bruce J. Clemenger is president of The Evangelical Fellowship of Canada. Albertos Polizogopoulos is legal co-counsel for the EFC in this case.

Your Stories of Palliative Care

Have you witnessed the difference palliative care made for a loved one? As the EFC releases its new Palliative Care Toolkit, we are also starting to publish a series of personal experience stories of palliative care. If you have an experience that you’d be willing to share on the EFC’s blog, email us to tell us about it. To say thank you, we’ll give you a free one-year subscription to Faith Today, Canada’s Christian magazine. The first in the series is by Patricia Paddey of Toronto, who writes about her father.

New Canada Summer Jobs Resources

The EFC has written to all MPs asking for the problematic attestation to be deleted or changed in next year’s Canada Summer Jobs application. See the EFC’s letter, as well as an update on legal challenges and what you can do, a revised sample letter to MPs and talking points.

Worship Resources for World Refugee Sunday

June 17 and 24 are suggested dates to observe this global event in your church. New information, resources and useful links are available at our webpage, including international materials in Arabic, Chinese, Croatian, Danish, Dutch, French, German, Hindi, Italian, Romanian, Spanish and Tamil. There are also resources produced by specific Canadian denominations but useful for all. To suggest additional resources for sharing, email us

Finishing High School, But Dropping Out of Faith?

A partnership of Christian organizations, including the EFC, conducted a major study recently on the transition from high school to the next stages of life. The Young Adult Transition Research (YATR) project looks at “what is hindering or helping faith engagement,” with the goal of making youth ministry efforts “more intentional in keeping youth in the church.” Results of the study will be available this summer.
