Trend in Canada’s courts worrisome for minority communities, says lawyer

A trend in Canada's courts is worrisome for minority communities such as Evangelicals, according to Geoffrey Trotter, a lawyer known for his work with the EFC, the Christian Legal Fellowship and similar groups. Religious minorities who hold traditional beliefs, for example about gender and personhood, may find those beliefs deemed false and/or harmful by a judge, now that progressive views are becoming so dominant. Recent court decisions, instead of showing judicial restraint and seeking to accommodate various worldviews, are sometimes going so far as to silence the expression of conservative minority views. Believers with traditional views will need to find new ways to communicate in ways that the majority can understand, he writes.
