New Canada Watch: Can We Prevent Euthanasia Laws from Softening?

A recent Quebec court decision could signal major changes to the medical assistance in dying (MAID) law in Canada. In the September 2019 Truchon decision, the court struck down the requirement that a person’s death must be “reasonably foreseeable” to be eligible for MAID. Read more about this decision in the latest Canada Watch. Congratulations to Prime Minister

EFC President Bruce Clemenger sent a letter of congratulation after the federal election to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and highlighted the importance of religious freedom. Clemenger wrote, “We believe that a commitment to work with people of diverse faiths for the public good, as well as a deep respect for freedom of religion and conscience and the integrity of communities of faith, are all essential components of a free and open society. All freedoms thrive when freedom of religion is respected and protected.”

Fixing Christmas

Are you struggling with the pressure to make your Christmas picture-perfect? Faith Today editor Karen Stiller shares, “One year our daughter Holly said, ‘Our church should hold a Christmas dinner for the community.’ So we struck a committee. We met in the church basement and divvied up jobs, and Christmas Day changed forever – and for so much better.”
