EFC Update Newsletter September 1, 2020

01 September 2020

New Denominational Affiliate

The EFC warmly welcomes The Canada Eastern Presbytery of the Korean Presbyterian Church Abroad (KPCA) as a new denominational affiliate. When we welcome new friends we are reminded that together we are stronger.

Interested in becoming an affiliate? You can apply here. By affiliating, you take your stand with Canada's Evangelicals as the EFC intervenes before the courts and builds relationships with government leaders; clearly identify your congregation or ministry with other Evangelical Christians; and gain access to EFC resources that can enrich your ministry.

A Key Time to Act on Euthanasia Expansion

Proposals to change Canada’s euthanasia law (Bill C-7) died when Parliament was prorogued in August. The government is expected to re-introduce these proposals and move them quickly through Parliament. See the EFC’s new blog and action kit. Take a few minutes to contact your MP. Your efforts help to uphold life and protect vulnerable Canadians.

New Podcast: Coping with COVID: A New Study Reveals the Strategies that Work

Bill Strom, professor of communications at Trinity Western University, has released a study called Weathering Well: Relational Resilience During the COVID-19 Lockdown. You will want to exercise more and watch screens less (unless it's church we're talking about) after hearing this interview.

The EFC Appoints Prayer Ambassador

Dr. Roger Helland, a former Baptist district minister near Calgary, was recently appointed as prayer ambassador for the EFC. Learn more about him and other EFC representatives open to public speaking invitations at www.TheEFC.ca/SpeakerBios.

Who is My Neighbour? Anti-Catholic Prejudice in Canada

English Canadian history has been marked by anti-Catholic sentiment, writes Faith Today columnist Kevin Flatt. In his latest History Matters column, he reminds us of some of that history, and he encourages us to “remain on our guard against unfounded prejudices against unpopular religious groups—whoever they may be.”
