Assisted Death for Children as Young as 12?

At the special committee studying medical assistance in dying, several witnesses have recommended expanding MAID to youth under 18. One witness suggested that if they need to include a minimum age, then it should be 12 years of age. Read about the committee discussions on opening euthanasia and assisted suicide to minors and what you can do about it in the EFC’s new blog.

This Week’s EFC Prayer Prompts

Prayer is essential to any effective action. Each week at TheEFC.ca/TakeAction we rotate through a prayer request from each of these five areas: Sanctity of Life, Care for the Vulnerable, Church and Mission, Family and Community, Religious Freedom. We also list an EFC affiliate group to pray for.

This week’s prayer request is about indigenous relations. Pray for openness across congregations in Canada to explore God’s heart for restored relationships among all people, and with all of creation. For healing and renewed hope for those who have been impacted by systemic barriers and injustice. For a posture of humility and learning for all Christians in Canada as evangelicals journey towards right relationship with Indigenous peoples. Pray for wisdom, discernment, courage and God’s leading as evangelical leaders respond and engage in this work. Pray for commitment from all levels of government to prevent and combat racism and injustice. You can learn more on these issues at TheEFC.ca/IndigenousRelations.

Several EFC affiliates have representatives in the Seven Commitments Working Group, which is advising the EFC on Indigenous-Settler relations and actions. Pray that the group will be able to pair Indigenous and non-Indigenous participants together in a fruitful way as they walk toward right relationship with God and each other.

EFC continues to offer new Friday@4 pandemic-focused prayer suggestions each month at TheEFC.ca/Covid-19.
