MPs debate bill to require platforms to verify age and consent for explicit content  

A private member's bill is being debated today that would require commercial pornography producers and distributors to verify the age and consent of each person depicted in explicit content before it is uploaded. This bill is moving through the House of Commons and is scheduled for its second hour of debate this afternoon. For more information, including a sample letter, see TheEFC.ca/C-270

EFC president, board chair attend Holocaust remembrance 

EFC President David Guretzki and board chair Adam Driscoll attended a ceremony commemorating the Holocaust at the Yom HaShoah National Holocaust Monument on Holocaust Remembrance Day, May 6. They were invited by the National Holocaust Monument Committee.  

Being a better backup singer: amplifying voices of Canadians with disability 

EFC Director of Public Policy Julia Beazley wrote a blog post for the Disability and Faith Forum on how we can learn from Canadians living with disability and how the church can do a better job of including everyone, regardless of ability. You can also read the EFC’s Life Together resource on disability and belonging in the church. 

EFC prayer ambassador presents in Niagara Falls 

EFC Prayer Ambassador Roger Helland will be presenting two seminars at the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada National Conference in Niagara Falls between May 12-15. His topics will be “Building a Prayer Movement: The Prayer Life of the Leader” and “Every Church a House of Prayer.”  

EFC president to speak at regional church gathering 

EFC President David Guretzki will be speaking at Redeemed Christian Church of God on May 18 in Moncton at the Redeemed Christian Church of God Atlantic Canada Regional Gathering.
