EFC Update Newsletter May 13

13 May 2025

Beyond the election

EFC President David Guretzki has written to congratulate the prime minister and to communicate the EFC’s prayers for him to have wisdom, strength and clarity as he governs.

New cabinet ministers and secretaries of state were sworn in this morning. Parliament is set to resume on May 26 and the government’s plans will be set out in the Throne Speech on May 27. Writing to congratulate your local MP is a good way to build bridges even across political differences.

The EFC will continue to engage in civil and constructive engagement on Parliament Hill. As EFC Senior Ambassador Bruce J. Clemenger reminds us, “A critical element of our witness is not just the topics of our advocacy, but how we conduct ourselves as we present them.”

You can read Clemenger’s full column and others like it in Faith Today, the EFC’s bi-monthly magazine. Subscribe for free

Possible postal strike

Canada Post has informed the public of a possible postal strike that could start as early as Thursday, May 22. This could delay mailings between the EFC and its affiliates, partners and donors. In light of that news, we encourage everyone to consider making donations online, by e-transfer or by phone (1-866-302-3362) until any possible postal disruption comes to an end.

Podcast: A woman of peace in Pakistan

Meet Kiran Peter, leader of Weaving People to Grow Foundation in Pakistan, on the latest episode of the All Things Reconciled Podcast and learn how she strives to be a Christian influence in her religiously splintered society. Her courageous engagement in inter-religious dialogue and peace work and dedication to influence youth and children can inspire us as we contribute to our own diverse societies.
