EFC summer presentations at churches, camps
Did you know? EFC employees haven’t simply spent the summer behind their laptop screens or vacationing. Several staff members have been out and about in the last few weeks, giving workshops and presentations and speaking to conferences and churches. Director of public policy Julia Beazley and senior policy advisor Beth Hiemstra gave workshops to the Atlantic District of the Wesleyan Church in July, then gave a briefing on MAiD for mental illness to the Wesleyan Church Atlantic District on August 13. EFC senior ambassador Bruce J. Clemenger was a panelist on religious freedom at a student conference held in August at the University of Toronto.
Congregations in different parts of Canada also welcomed EFC speakers recently. Phil Wagler, the EFC’s global liaison, spoke at Mission Creek Alliance Church in Kelowna on Sunday, August 9. The next Sunday, Central Canada regional director Don McNiven brought an update on EFC issues to Stanley Park Baptist Church, an affiliate congregation in Kitchener, Ontario.
Family camps are a special summer opportunity for the public to hear from EFC speakers. This past July, Julia Beazley, director of public policy, gave a workshop at Beulah Family Camp. Then, from August 3 to 7, Rick Hiemstra (Vice-President of Ministry and Public Engagement) and Beth Hiemstra gave seminars at Wesley Acres Campground.
Two of Rick Hiemstra’s seminars explained findings from recent research studies on discipling children and social media and faith formation. Another seminar offered answers to the question, “Why Is It So Hard for Canadians to Receive the Gospel?” The presentation explored how our understanding of identity and the "authentic self" has changed and what it means for sharing the good news.
Beth Hiemstra’s seminar reviewed the MAiD law, its impact and how we can respond. The seminar presentations by Rick and Beth Hiemstra given at Wesley Acres from August 3-7 are now online.

Ignite prayer forums this fall

Join us this fall for two 60-minute online Ignite prayer forums co-sponsored by the EFC and Ignite Prayer Canada.
The first will be held on Zoom on September 24 at 11:00 a.m. EDT, with a theme of "Keys to Cultivating a Vibrant Culture of Kingdom Prayer.”
The second prayer forum will take place on November 25 at 11:00 a.m. EST on Zoom. The theme will be "Keys to Cultivating Kingdom Prayer in Church Worship Services."
