Celebrating 30th anniversary of Sacred Assembly

New Bill C-9 summary

The EFC has a new two-page summary on the proposed hate crimes bill, concerns about its removal of protection for religious expression and how to contact your MP. The Justice Committee will resume its study of Bill C-9 after the House of Commons resumes on Jan. 26. This is a critical time to contact your MP to ask for changes to the bill. Visit TheEFC.ca/C-9 for more information.

Hearings start in religious freedom case

A B.C. court is beginning hearings this week in the first phase of a court challenge involving a Christian hospital in Vancouver. This case will consider whether a Christian healthcare facility is able to offer care that is consistent with its beliefs and whether it is able to be a MAiD-free space. Please pray for legal counsel preparing the EFC’s written arguments in support of religious freedom, which will be submitted and presented later this spring.
