Prayer Update on Imprisoned Mississauga Pastor

The EFC has written a letter calling on the Government of Canada to prioritize the case of imprisoned Mississauga pastor Rev. Hyeon Soo Lim, and to do everything it can to secure his release from North Korea and return to his home in Canada. A recent Toronto Star article suggests a “cautious glimmer of hope” in the situation, with a meeting last week between Rev. Lim and a Swedish embassy diplomat. Please continue to pray for Rev. Lim’s release.

Overview of the Canadian Evangelical Forums 2016-2017

The EFC recently hosted a series of Canadian Evangelical Forums with partner groups across the country, including events in Ontario, B.C., New Brunswick, Alberta, and Manitoba. Several themes emerged, including the reality that evangelicals are on the margins of Canadian culture; that the call of Christ to the church has not changed but may be carried out in new ways; and that the church needs to work interculturally and intergenerationally. Participants overwhelmingly displayed a deep trust that God would continue to sustain the Church in Canada into the future, even as he had in the 150 years since Confederation.
