Code of Ethical Principles

The Evangelical Fellowship of Canada (EFC) is committed to high ethical standards in the fundraising profession. To these ends, we embrace certain values that we strive to uphold in performing our responsibilities for generating charitable support.

Fundraising personnel aspire to:

  1. Following fundraising practices characterized by integrity, honesty, truthfulness and adherence to the absolute obligation to safeguard the public trust.
  2. Inspire others through their own sense of dedication and high purpose.
  3. Improve their professional knowledge and skills, so that their performance will better serve others.
  4. Demonstrate concern for the interests and well-being of individuals affected by their actions.
  5. Value the privacy, freedom of choice and interests of all those affected by their actions.
  6. Foster cultural diversity, Christian values, and treat all people with dignity and respect.
  7. Adhere to the spirit as well as the letter of all applicable laws and regulations.
  8. Advocate within the EFC constituency, adherence to all applicable laws and regulations.
  9. Avoid even the appearance of any criminal offense or professional misconduct.
  10. Encourage colleagues to embrace and practice these ethical principles and standards of professional practice.
