What is Adoption Sunday?

Adoption Sunday provides you and your congregation with ideas, background information, best practices and resources about fostering and adoption. Learn more about Canada’s 30,000 adoptable children and youth, why quality fostering matters, and, why “aging out” with no family or community matters.

November is national adoption awareness month, the perfect time for churches to educate and empower themselves and their families to care for Canadian children and youth.

Adoption Sunday Mission Statement

To increase national public awareness and promote education on issues facing children and youth both in and outside of government care or those waiting to come home through the process of adoption here in Canada and internationally

To cast a practical, national Canadian vision that elevates the dignity and worth of children and youth in Canada and to provide free, easy-to-use educational resources toward this goal

To generate a movement that makes children and youth our top priority at home, within communities and professionally - indeed the success of a society is measured in the well being of its children

To promote ways in which faith-based communities can connect & engage with their local children’s and family service agencies and other organizations concerning the well-being of all Canadian children and youth, families in crisis and birth families

To harness the transformational power that well-informed volunteer-based communities can offer families in crisis, children and youth in care and those waiting to come through the process of adoption here at home and internationally

To demystify the process of adoption and fostering and to get potential parents directly connected to where the children and youth are

Adoption Sunday.com empowers you to “see” and “hear” the issues of children and youth.

  • to make child protection and issues in prevention your top priority at home, within your community and in your workplace
  • to understand that “language matters” and compassion counts for birth families and for families and communities in crisis
  • to see adoption, kinship and custom care, and quality fostering as a sacred trust for children and youth who need us; a moral and social issue for children and not a service for couples, a job, a rescue or as a way to ignore issues in prevention
Adoption Sunday asks you to bring your heritage, your family and community to the table.
