Canada’s Christian magazine celebrates the arts, holds summer contest

Faith Today, Canada’s Christian magazine, is celebrating the arts this summer with a unique interactive cover, a free gift for new subscribers and a challenge to readers to rethink the importance of the arts.

The cover of the July/August issue is an original colouring page printed on special paper for our readers to use their markers, crayons, pastels or colouring pencils on. Readers are already enjoying colouring the cover and posting pictures of their creations at Facebook.com/FaithToday or emailing them to editor@faithtoday.ca.

Each reader’s artwork also enters them into Faith Today’s first-ever (and probably only ever) colouring contest. A winner’s name will be randomly drawn – pun intended – in September and sent a copy of Restore My Soul, a colouring devotional book by Montreal artist and author Ann-Margaret Hovsepian.

Restore My Soul ($21.99 from Tyndale Publishers) is also a free gift with all new subscriptions purchased before the end of August (www.faithtoday.ca/subscriptions).

Author Ann-Margaret Hovsepian says she intended “to create devotionals and drawings that encourage the reader to slow down and reconnect with the Lord, to rest in Him and be restored.”

Faith Today’s July/August issue also features a challenge from British Columbia recording artist and writer Carolyn Arends.

“Given the arts are such an organic part of human flourishing, it makes sense they might be important in our spiritual formation,” writes Arends in a three-page essay that challenges readers who might not see artistic activity as something that can help them follow Jesus better.

The article, and the complete magazine, are available free online at www.faithtoday.ca/digital, in print at many Canadian bookstores or by calling toll-free 1-866-302-3362.

“We hope our readers will have some extra fun with this issue,” say editors Bill Fledderus and Karen Stiller. “Summer is a time to relax and reset. This issue of Faith Today will help readers and new subscribers do just that.”

Faith Today was founded in 1983 and is a member of Magazines Canada. It is published by The Evangelical Fellowship of Canada (www.theEFC.ca), the national association of Evangelicals in Canada and the Canadian regional member of the World Evangelical Alliance. From its headquarters in Richmond Hill, Ont., Faith Today distributes 20,000 copies per issue across Canada.
