Bill C-75 (2018): On human trafficking, obstructing clergy, child protection, abortion

04 September 2018
The EFC made a written submission and an oral presentation to the Justice Committee on Bill C-75 in September 2018. Among other things, Bill C-75 would allow some serious offences related to human trafficking, assaulting clergy and infanticide to be considered as relatively minor summary conviction offences. The EFC’s brief also includes commentary on removing the Criminal Code provisions on abortion which were struck down by the Supreme Court in 1988. The EFC’s brief is available as a free six-page PDF.

Here are some short excerpts from the oral presentation by Julia Beazley, the EFC’s director of public policy.
