Summer job grants controversy - Watch our January webinar

11 January 2018
Theme:
Hundreds of businesses and ministry organizations may now be ineligible for the Canada Summer Jobs grant program because of new government regulations. Applicants must now attest that their core mandate and proposed summer jobs do not discriminate on the basis of religion, sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression. Employers must affirm respect for “reproductive rights” such as abortion and unspecified “other rights [and] values underlying the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

We welcomed two guests to this free interactive 45-minute webinar on Thurs. Jan. 25 at noon EST. They updated us all on the latest developments in this situation, answered questions live, and informed us of what Canadians troubled by this change can do.

The guests were Barry Bussey, Director, Legal Affairs for the Canadian Council of Christian Charities, and Julia Beazley, Director, Public Policy for The Evangelical Fellowship of Canada.
